I hold power and glory in my sway
Glittering jewels are the way my scales glow
My breath turns the darkest night into day
For decades upon decades do I grow

Secrets of the world are in my pages
written in ink, never to fade away
encased from sight by leather bound cages
The silver locks hold intruders at bay

The water surrounded by land, so calm
Showing what's under the surface never
before you can grasp, it slips through your palm
for you to catch me, I am too clever

Take you life into your own two hands,
Live the way that you want to, break the bands
