General Posts / Re: More Ramblings: Time Mage
January 21, 2009, 10:07:15 PM
The only thing I'm concerned about is Red Mage getting left further behind, as far as party buffer functionality goes. I have some ideas on that, but I think I'll make my own thread of ideas instead of cluttering up this one.

How about a reversed warp spell? In other words, "Warp <party member> to my location" ?

It would sure make getting around a lot easier, though the poor Time Mage would be stuck running all over the place while the rest of the party took it easy. Make it same-zone only for balance. It's not quite right that someone can be sitting in their moghouse and suddenly get warped to some distant locale :)

I seem to remember Eva having a great writeup for some jobs as well. Was it Chemist and Geomancer?

I really like the idea of syphon spells, sort of a DoT version of Aspir or Drain. Beautiful :)
I'm only concerned that the aspir rate gets to be a bit high. If RDMs ever get a Refresh II, I'll withdraw that complaint :)

Vortex is nice, too. It seems like a DoT version of Demi. And, of course, Hastega/slowga/stop all fit well with the concept of a Time Mage. They should have some sort of movement speed + spell, though. Probably for an individual target, instead of AoE, just for balance. That would make Time Mages welcome end-game, as they could give kiters a serious boost.

I only solo for XP these days, but level sync seems nice for it. If you're in a party with level 25's, and someone levels to 26, they can sync back to 25 to keep the XP the same. It gets hard on skill caps, though.

The economy? Well, I haven't noticed it being any HARDER to get gil, but it's always been somewhat difficult  :-\

March should be a good time to come back. There's another version update slated for then, and they should release the body piece for the WotG Allied Notes gear. By that time, I should have enough AN to buy all three sets  ;D

You can get XP, but the monsters in the maze are matched to the lowest level character that goes in, so like if a level 75 goes in with a level 50, nobody will get XP. If you go in with a bunch of people your own level, though, the monsters will spawn DC-EM, or maybe even T.

There are supposed to be special gear drops, from what I heard, though I haven't seen any. Also, you can get runes for the maze, so you can make more adjustments. You can add runes that make the monsters much weaker or much stronger than you (or your lowest level character).

That's a cool idea! I think for the ability ones, though, some balancing might be needed... like, doubling the cooldown timers or some such thing. A provoke bauble would make for an interesting PLD/NIN, though :)

Or, maybe skip the JA additions entirely, just for balance issues (and because a lot of Thieves, for example, would get upset if you had Covetous Stones) . Instead, you could have accessories that enhance a JA that someone already has, like

"Enmity sphere"
Level 25, enhances Provoke (2x hate spike)

"Bounding sphere"
Level 30, enhances "Jump" (adds damage, increases enmity reduction"

"Curing Bauble"
Level 25, WHM only (enhances potency of cure spells by 15% without increasing enmity)

That kind of thing.

Anyway, I like it. It's something SE could add that would enhance our characters just a bit, and maybe add a little flexibility while we're at it.  ;D

When I fire my crossbow at something, I'm right in it's face! Oh, yeah! I creep up behind it, and SNEAK ATTACK! Then, when it turns around all "wtf?!" I shoot it in the head with a blinding bolt! BOOM! And if I get hurt, Bloody Bolt, baby! Yeah yeah yeah!!!

...

Sorry, went a little crazy for a minute  :-[ :-X

Didn't the same think happen with Pankration? It will be up and running soon, I'm sure.

Of more concern to me at the moment is the ranged weapon delay. I noticed it last night on THF. Trying to shoot a bloody or blinding bolt at a crab, I could get up from my desk, go get a soda, and come back before my crossbow fired  ::) :P

Luckily, it's on their fix-it list :)

MOBLIN MAZE MONGERS!!

...has been delayed   :'(

Oh, well. There's other good stuff in here, including the following:

The Reraise effect granted by certain spells and items will no longer be removed by magic and abilities such as Dispel and Voidsong.

While the query selection boxes associated with the white magic spell Raise and the black magic spell Tractor are being displayed, the same spells will no longer be able to be cast on that player.

When the experience points gained by a dragoon result in their wyvern receiving a status boost, the wyvern's HP will now be fully restored.

That's a really well-thought out job profile. I'd definitely want to try it, if it existed :)
